Implications of assigning 2 virtual directories to the same physical directory in IIS

Implications of assigning 2 virtual directories to the same physical
directory in IIS

I would like to know if assigning 2 virtual directories (in IIS, in
different application pools) pointing to the same physical directory has
any implications. Specifically how does it work under load conditions
(hundreds to a few thousand requests per min). Is there a chance that
performance might degrade (compared to keeping them in separate physical
directories)
